Default Timing with Tiger heads

I’m curious how much timing you guys ran with Tiger heads. My 535 is all aluminum, Tiger heads and intake, 56 ccs, .850 lift cam. Thanks

Maybe try AllPontiac!
..........or maybe just start low and read the plugs with every increase.

We have similar combos...I been running my at 36. I think it made most power at 38 on dyno though.

What fuel you running? Seems like a lot of timing to me but maybe that's what Tigers like

I didn’t have time for dyno or much testing. Out of the trailer at Gainesville and racing. It’s on 36. Ran well and I haven’t touched it. I was curious because I’ve never ran anything like this set up before

This winter I’m going to send the heads and intake off for more work. Then I’m going to have Butler Dyno it and move the timing around and see where it likes it. I may be a little high right now

The more efficient your port and combustion chamber is, the less lead it will need.

There's no doubt that there is only one maxed out power timing setting for any given motor on any given day and then also in a narrow rpm range.

Other factors that coming into play are fuel used in terms of its Octane and gravity, how much fuel is being turned into a vapor in the runners which is then tied right into the factors of engine temp and incoming air temp.

Can the intake manifold affect the engine timing?

I ask because it seems like my combo is taking more timing than others...

Getting off to the late start this year the Tiger intake is basically out of the box. I’m sure there’s more there. I’m looking forward to sending them off with the heads this winter

If you changed over to a larger runner Intake, then yes the change in average port velocity will make for the need to some degree for a change in timing.

The more average redundant port area a motor has the more Atmospheric changes will make for different timing needs.

Who is considered the best Tiger head/intake porter? With the kind of racing I do I’m not looking for a 9000 rpm combo, but I want to get all I can. As long as I’m running Super Gas/ Super Street I’ll always have to retain decent tourqe numbers
