The car has factory manifolds from 77 and 2" fuel exhaust with likely turbo type mufflers. Very quiet. It will get upgraded eventually.

The 066 would wake that engine up if it is still sporting the original tiny cam used in that era 350. Lots of us have been around 400s and 455s with the 066. My 77 T/A 4 speed had a cam similar when it was stock. It ran decent. The summit 2800 is cheap and a slight upgrade over the 066 with stock springs. The idea of the ultradyne I suggested was to keep the stock valve terrain and wake the engine up more. Not sure how much that would like log manifolds. More of a header combo. Voodoos take a valve spring change. Not a fan of extra overlap and log manifolds.

We have a rebuilt 350 short block in the shed awaiting a good trashing. I would be up for some testing or someone else like Ponyakr thrashing on it. Careful what you wish for Don.

With a 4 speed and a 3.42 gear I wouldn't go any smaller than a 067 cam, you might could get away with a 068 advanced 4 degrees. I had one in a 1972 350 with 8.1 comp and it ran 9.20 in the 1/8 with a 3.23 gear. The sound on this video is horrible, it was filmed with a potato. https://youtu.be/P7S38kFsIq8

Agree with the Voodoo 256/262 in that setup. The short advertised duration, will reduce the bleed down of compression at low rpm. Even with the tighter LSA this will help cylinder filling at low engine speeds, including part throttle. At the same time, the 0.050" duration values, higher valve lift, and tighter LSA will make the mid-range and top end strong as well. In other words, great choice for driveability, torque and peak power. Like having the best characteristics of 066/067/068 cams all in one.
