sorry for the delay ..3am... had issues with a 68 dash harness tonite that had me tied up

but here is

my nicest spare 68 69

real nice lettering ,,, no overspray or paint

very clean under the cap

Closer look I think that cap is 71 and later. The caps you have pictured with the two "ears" are correct for 68.

hmmmmm ... maybe
fairly sure 67 was the last year for the metal 2 ear cap w vent hole
68 started the plastic. w vent hole
71 no vent hole
73 verbage changed
this JUST MY observation on the 75-100 or so 65-72's I have had 2/3 68 69's

My bad. You are correct. I was looking in Ames catalog and they have them identified incorrectly in the pictures.
