RONALD LOGGHE, CHASSIS BUILDER, RIP
Thw world lost a good chassis designer when Mr Ronald Logghe, passed away at the age of 82, on the Isle of Capri, (Naples area) Florida.
Mr Logghe was originally from Michigan and was born in Detroit on June 2, 1937. He later lived in northern Michigan in the summers and spent the winters on the Isle of Capri for 40 years with his wife, Josephine (JoJo). He was a famous Funny Car Chassis Designer and Builder in the early Funny Car and Dragsters days. He built his own sports car for a Senior Thesis project in college. He loved Woodworking, Metal Work, Hunting, Fishing, Trap Shooting, and was a Pilot among other skills. He passed away of Parkinson's (like my friend Don Hubbard of Crane Camshafts). Info taken from his Obit in today's paper. If you had a Logghe Racing Chassis, you had one of the best parts in racing. Tom V.

"He built his own sports car for a Senior Thesis project in college."
I knew I had the article about Ron's Special Sports Car that Ron, his brother Gene, and his Dad "Morris" Logghe built. I found it this afternoon. The car had a steel body called the Logghe Stamping Special and was a work of art, even by todays standards. A reduced scale model was built first. A few were a Small Block Corvette engine with a Potvin Crank driven Supercharger, Coil over Shocks, Disc Brakes, aluminum interior, Special fabricated Logghe chassis, Quick change rear axle, Hilborn Fuel Injection, and many more design features. Ronald Logghe was quite a talented individual as was his family. Tom V. ps The article that features the car is CARS magazine, Vol 3 #2, May 1961. RIP Ron
