how rare were 66-67 with two tone paint
looking into finding out some info on two tone cars (painted roof, not vinyl)
bumped into cameo ivory with gulf turquoise poly top 67. Wonder whats the opinion on these two tones, from what it appears to me they re quite rare, not sure how much more desirable than standard paint cars. any input would be appreciated. thanks |

I love the two-tone paint. You don’t see them that often.
Here are a 64,65,66 and a 67 wagon. Chris.

what do you guys think a two tone is or even is worth more over a same car/same condition, same options that's not a two tone, just basic common color? lets say % wise

This sweet '66 was in Gettysburg.
The images below are a few I came across. Most I come upon are Gold with Black top. The second one is Mission Beige with Gold top. I come across more 4 door Tempest with two tone then any of the 2 door models.

I'd place 2-tone GTO being less desirable than single tone.
But, more desirable than a vinyl top GTO. |

I have nerd tendencies and I've "data-mined" PHS "trim" combinations for about 630 67 GTO's. There were about 80,000 (non-convertible) GTO's made, so my data covers about 0.75% of all the 67's made.
This is what I've collected for "two tone" 67 GTO's: FC Tyrol Blue/Cameo Ivory top GA Signet Gold/Starlight black top GA Signet Gold/Starlight black top GT Signet Gold/Montego Cream top KC Gulf Turquoise/Cameo Ivory top MC Plum Mist/Cameo Ivory top NC Burgundy/Cameo Ivory top SA Champagne/Starlight Black top So that's 8 cars out of 630 or so cars; about 1.2% were two tone. I"ll let the statistic folks figure out how that can extrapolate to how my 630 count sampling is for accuracy of the whole model year. Some of the combos are pretty nice. As a side note, I had a 67 Plymouth Belvedere HT and it was a two tone: Burgundy with Gloss black top. I never saw another two tone, probably rather low numbers like Pontiac.

I wasn't thinking when I made my post...here's what I have:
I have PHS "trim" information on 630 67 GTO's, and 447 of that number are hardtops and coupes. 8 of them are "two tone" (as listed above), which is about 1.8% of the GTO's in my sample size. (I mistakenly left in the convertibles in my calculation in the above post)

In the early 90's owned quite a few 67 GTO's as projects & partscars. One of the first batch was a Burgundy with a cameo ivory painted top hardtop. Parchment interior, non AC stick car. In the same deal, hauled in a '67 GTO Sports Coupe, Montego Cream, Signet Gold painted top, gold buckets & console. IMHO, even in its faded laquer, the gold painted top really helped the appearance of that cream colored Post car. Am just not a solid color beige, cream, gold, or brown fan on the run of the mill later 60's Pontiac A-body's. Sold the cream/gold post GTO as an easy project to a fellow in far eastern OK, will look through my older records, I may have an early PHS supplied invoice copy. Little later in the mid 90's, owned as a parts car a '67 GTO Sports Coupe which was Mariner turquoise with a black painted roof. As a factory 400 2bbl car needing considerable body work, it was blown apart & parted. Out of 13 '67 GTO's I've owned, those 3 were factory two tone cars, 6 more were factory vinyl top cars.

In the right color combinations, I think they can look very nice. Agree, value is probably about the same. Some of the cars pictured in this thread are really pretty IMO. Some vinyl roof cars look good IMO too. Such as 69-72 Grand Prix. They look really plain without them. That's some of what I loved so much about Pontiacs from 60's and 70's. So many options and combinations.

Years ago I was at the Atlantic City Car Auction and I saw a Tyrol Blue with White painted roof 67 GTO..... and I loved it, and I decided then that when I redid mine I would try it instead of reinstalling the vinyl roof...... worst-case scenario, if I hated it, just reinstall the vinyl since it retains all the same trim....
Needless to say..... I love the way it came out
