I have a 69 442 with a 455. I have a set of dynomax headers on it with 3" collectors. I have decided to go with dual 3" pipes all the way back with an X pipe. I heard 3" flowmaster 40 series flow like crap, so I am tyring to find something else. Are the 14" Xcelerator race muffler's good? I want it to be LOUD, deep, and throaty. Quiet is bad in my oppinion. Would this be a good muffler? Any other suggestions?

If you use the 3" X 14" Goerlich's and you want a deep loud sound, you won't be disappointed. The X-Pipe will tone it down a bit, but the cars I've heard with those pipes and the shorter case Goerlich's have been very aggressive sounding. It's hard to describe the difference, but it's not as tinny as the flowmasters sound. More like a pro-stock type of sound to me. Try the sound clips of the Goerlich's on this site. Here's the link and there is one on the right with a '67 Lemans with the 3" X 14" Goerlich's.
