I was mocking up a 2 1/2 X pipe system on my 70 Sport. The question I have is the muffler brackets.
The supplied brackets for the muffler don't have the cresent piece that bolts to them when compared to the stock pieces.
This is the piece the U of the clamp would attach to.
Are they supposed to come in the kit?
If not,it looks as if the clamp was mounted upside down it would work, anybody do this?

If you just got a X kit there is no hardware included. If you got an entire exhaust system then you should have left and right muffler hangers as well as tailpipe hangers.

The muffler hangers would look like this.

I got the whole exhaust system, x pipe, mufflers, tailpipes etc.

I got those those hangers(pictured),but they are missing a part compared to stock.
If you don't use the stock piece that is missing, how are they mounted?

I did mine two weeks ago and I got confused also. Those hangers attach to exhaust clamps. The clamp goes behind the muffler to connect the mufflers w/the tailpipes. The same clamps also go through those hangers that are pictured above. You may need to pick up extra clamps if you are not welding the system together. Go to the Pypes part of the site and look for their pictures, that really helped me.

Actually, Shotgun is right, those hangers in the pics are incomplete. I just hung my tailpipes tonight from Pypes and had to reuse the little pieces from my old hangers. There is a little clamp crescent that bolts to those hangers with slots to move them side to side. These hangers, which are correct and just like the factory ones, are kind of useless without the other part.

Use the bottom halve of a muffler clamp with two straight bolts (instead of the U-bolt) from the muffler hangers pictured above.
