Carter AFB upgrades, PRI show find
Saw this Carter AVS carb on display and asked for the Carb Expert.
"Would these boosters fit the old AFBs", I asked? You bet, he smiled. "You are like the 50th person to ask me". So when will they be available separately?? He said they are exploring this and the more they hear in Marketing, the sooner it could happen. Looks like a cool idea to me.

So, being no carburetor expert, this would retro-fit into a dual quad AFB setup to look original and provide fuel injection? Nice! How do I contact their marketing? Is it just edelbrock.com? I am definitely interested.

Tony not fuel injection just a different kind of booster. Probably wouldn't give you anything and would hurt performance if the depth of the bottom edge of the booster tubes didn't match the depth of the venturis in the AFB carb body (Carter AFBs had at least two depths that I have observed). Also may hurt performance if the air bleeds, idle jets, etc. were not suitable for whatever application you are building your set for. Annular boosters have been used on large cfm Holleys for some time.
Tony there is quite a thread on this in the "Street" section I think it is, same poster. Last edited by 61-63; 12-09-2018 at 06:57 PM. |

John, thanks for the explanation. I looked at the street section after you posted this. Just shows how much I don’t know! Merry Christmas down there in the Lone Star State!
