I think it's being shut down due to lack of activity. I received an email a month or 2 ago from the moderator there asking for opinions on continuing or not. He was having to spend time maintaining it, but didn't seem worth the effort at this point. I haven't been able to access the site for 5 years from my home computer so can't even get there, and others may have had that problem too. And other people who were contacted agreed that it might as well be shut down, since most a-body people are now using Facebook groups and occasionally this forum.

I thought it was because it was getting hit hard with spam. It's a shame if it's getting shut down, a lot of knowledge there and helpful people in one little community.

Yes, that was part of the maintenance work, dealing with the spam. Yes, I enjoyed it back when I started going there around 2002. I already had a 75 Lemans Sport, and it inspired me to get a 73 Grand Am which I bought in 2003. But as I mentioned, about 5 years ago, it got to where I wasn't able to access it for some unknown reason. It was the only place on the internet that I couldn't get to. Strange.

Default A body site - Facebook effect

It was a great site, I heard about it in 2004 when I bought my 1974 Lemans daily driver (still going strong) and it helped me through some fun upgrades and maintainence issues. I think the bottom line is that Facebook groups are just swallowing all the traffic and killing these specialty sites (including this one).

A few years ago I used to see 20+ folks at any given time (sometime 50+) viewing the classifieds here. Now it's usually 1 or 2.

I don't like how Facebook is taking over everything.

I am sad to see it go away as well! There is a ton info on that forum that was nice to use as a reference. I as well have not been able to access the site from my home computer since I switched to AT&T U-Verse. I called AT&T tech support and they told me was it was not a "secure" site for whatever reason. I use my phone to access it when I'm not at home but have not in the last couple months. Is there anyway that a group of moderators can bring it back?

I still check everyday hoping it will return. Not sure what effort, or cost, is involved with just putting the site up but not allowing new members?

The site has been permanently shut down.
I last had contact with the Moderator in May, 2019 and he confirmed.
All good things it seems must come to an end.
