18x9 Wheels 2nd Gen
I searched a lot of forums on wheel fitment and couldn't find much. So if anybody is interested I put 18x9 wheels on all four corners with 295/45 18's in the rear and 275/40 18 in the front. The only modification was to roll about 8"s of wheel lip in the rear.

They're US Mags...Bandit U109, 18x9 and the BS is 5.25. They won't fit stock center caps but supposedly the aftermarket ones work. I ordered a set waiting on them now. We'll see....

Thank you, I agonized over whether to go 17 or 18 and what size tire. Searching forums, things were limited as far as pictures. There is a thread on here but everything is using Photo Bucket. I went with 18's because there were more tire options. I didn't want that low profile rubber band look. Seems every car I see has way too much room in the wheel wells. I first put 295/40's on the back and too much room. The 45's seem to fit the bill.
I would have preferred a tad bigger in the front but steer sweep won't allow that. The front springs are brand new, I'm waiting for them to settle and then I will probably lower the front about a 1/2" to an 1" if they don't go down on their own and I think that will get me where I want to be.

I like the 18s. I think you have the perfect amount of sidewall on there.
Springs tend to settle a lot, so be patient with them. I've made the mistake of trimming springs before giving them enough time and miles to settle, and ended up having to replace them because they were too low. lol

Same rims on mine, I am running 275/40r18's on all 4. Tiny bit of rub on mine at full lock but nothing bad at all.
Your car looks awesome btw! Sent from my SM-A530W using Tapatalk

I know the project "back burner" syndrome. One good thing about my kids being grown. My cars were on hold for 20 years. I'm glad that's over. You'll get there too.

I ended up with bandits on the tribute build, was not my first choice but really like them now, they grew on me.
I need some inexpensive wheels to get my 'bird on the road this spring, and was looking at the bandits, they look 'right' on the car, but was thinking it would be the 'same look' as my other car. Both cars really need custom width/spacing, so that will just have to wait until a later date. I think the 18s with 40s looks fine, but my stuff is lower than stock. I have 18s on the bird right now, but the backspacing isn't quite right, and get a tad bit of rub on bumps and locks, but can live with it for a little. Here's a pic, but in this pic, the tires have like 15lbs of air from sitting, so need to look at the top, not the bottom to get the idea. Think they're 285/35s on the back, and 265/40s on the front, would have to check. ROH wheels. The rear springs are new GW CAT5s, so haven't broken in yet. Once the rear settles, it would look more 'even'. .

The new calipers look good too! You will have to keep us posted on how they work.

They work killer. And with the Hydro boost, I'm loving it. Every Pontiac I've ever owned has always had long duration cams so I always suffered with a hard pedal on second pump. Now Brakes are fantastic. If anybody is interested; Hydro boost for about $200.00 complete. I'll list all parts necessary...

I started with all WS6 suspension from a '79 TA donor. Since then I replaced a lot of the front suspension. It has Bilsteins at all four corners. Tubular upper and lower control arms (which do nothing for handling), tall upper ball joints, lowering coil springs, frt. stabilizer links from a late model 4x4 F150 truck, sub frame connectors, G braces under the hood and home made Cal Trac type traction bars (pretty much direct knock offs). Then of course the brakes, front 1LE conversion and S10 disc in the rear. Here are some pics. The brake picture is the S10 rears. You can catch a glimpse of the shocks. The Hydroboost shows a bit of the G braces.
