Default Jim Hand head and intake porting info

Hi everyone- I have both of the Rocky Rotella Pontaic engine books, but I can't find the Jim Hand version anywhere for less than $200. I am interested in the details Jim Hand gives on intake manifold modifications, and cylinder head porting- Can anyone help me out?

Darcy

PM me your address and I’ll make you a copy of the head porting section of Jim’s book.

May not be Pontiac-specific, but David Vizard's How to Port and Flow Test Cylinder Heads has excellent content that applies to any 2 valve cylinder head.

Pete McCarthy even had a video and articles in the old HPP on porting.

The Pete McCarthy information and video is excellent for a beginner and won't get you in trouble. I started with his info and then went to Joe Mondello's porting school to further refine my skills. The Mondello school was mostly shewed toward Chevy heads, but the principles apply to all cylinder heads.

Also in the first minute of the McCarthy video it says you can apply these techniques to other brands.

I have all of David's books and even in his latest one "How to port and flowtest heads" he does not give up the goods so to speak like he states that he will do in the opening section of that book!

In fact within that book there's no more the 3 paragraphs that state any dimensions or ratios to guide your porting work, couple this to the fact the within that book all the heads he does rework into greater flow levels already start out in race Head, or near reach Head form which is a far cry from reworking factory iron heads!

Even in Davids book that came out in the 90's on performance porting SB Chevy heads that has reworking both iron and aftermarket heads in it he does not give up the goods !

Do get me wrong there is tons upon tons of great info in his latest book and it should be part of anyone's info stack of paper if there serious about making power , but the info that the McCarthy video gives when expanded on with a tad more knowledge will allow you to design ports that flow great and also assess and rework ports to flow good.

I have never seen the Jim Hand porting book , but a have flow tested a fellows 6X head ported with the guidance of Jims book and it flowed in the high 250 cfm range if I recall right with its 30 degree stock angle Intake seat.

On the video portion, is that still actively marketed for sale anywhere? If its not taking money out of anyone's pocket I would love to see that uploaded to YouTube for the whole community.

Apparently the US government does not approve of Mr McCarthy because his website is blocked lol. Ill have to look at it when I get home. If it is still available for sale I wouldn't approve of it being shared, but if its like an out of print book I have no problem with it being copied.

Im sure the website is fine, its just blocked on the Navy web service. I don't know what makes them block certain things over others. It seems random sometimes.
