Grandville headlight switch
My Grandville is coming along nicely. This is going to be my daily soon. However, the headlight switch is stuck. It will not pull out. Before I go taking the bezel off, I vaguely remember a trick to get it out...or was it just the round part. Anyone care to refresh my memory?

There should be a little button on the back end of the switch either top or bottom. Push it and the lever will come out.

Well, I changed the switch and now the switch works. I have no power to the bulbs but i do have power to the switch. I checked and cleaned all grounds I could find. Fuses are good. Is there something else to check?

No headlights or parking lights?
The headlight switch should have two hot wires going to it. One for headlights that's protected by a piece of fusible link wire under the hood. And one for parking lights that gets power from the fuse box. For no headlights I'd move down to the high/low dimmer switch and see if power is making it down there with headlights pulled on. It'll have three wires going to it: Power from the headlight switch and two wires going out, one for high beam and one for low beam. May be two wires in the twerminal for high beams, second wire going to high beam indicator on dash. Clay |

Check both ends of the tail ight fuse with a test light. Seen a bunch that the lead strip looks good but the solder has turned lose from the end cap.
Then it's just check for power in and power out on both circuits, headlights and tail lights. And I would jump straight to the dimmer switch to check for headlight power coming from the switch. Might just be a terminal worn out or burned up from old age. Clay |

Well I have power to the headlight switch. So when I pull out the switch I should have power to the dimmer...correct? I do not have have power there. The two 20 amp fuses under the hood are good.

So it looks like the power coming down to the dimmer is light blue. But even when I pull the switch out no power comes out of the light blue wire on the switch. Did I get a bad switch? I should’ve checked continuity but gotta make food. I’m getting close. Thank you.

Well, it was a bad switch. Would have been way easier with a diagram. Got everything buttoned up and I'm cruising with lights!!! What a pain though. I got a couple bulbs to replace and sockets to clean but...shes on the road. Thanks for the guidance...especially about the dimmer.

That’s a lucky fix- glad it didn’t turn into a wiring harness job
