Does anyone follow the You Tube channel "Pole Barn Garage", and the "Holey Goat"?
The guy bid on an online auction, on a 70 GTO in Texas that sat on a ranch, and was used for target practice. He lives in Missouri, and he travels to Texas to retrieve the car, and hauls it home on a trailer. I believe he paid like $200 for it. He calls it, "The worst GTO ever", not many people would argue that fact.......
They figure the car was used for target practice for about 30 years, and is riddled everywhere with bullet holes. He spends months hammering it back into shape, puts another engine/transmission in it, and puts it back on the road with the sheetmetal riddled with hundreds of bullet holes, hence the name "Holey Goat". He takes it to car shows, I believe he took it to the POCI Nationals this year, it's in the 23 episodes. One episode he and his son don garbage bags, and run it through an automatic car wash, pretty funny with the only piece of glass being the windshield, and hundreds of bullet holes in the sheetmetal. It took 23 installments for him to get it back on the road. He is now working on another project called the, "Rolled Runner". A 1969 Road Runner that was rolled over, caught on fire with no driveline. I'm assuming he's going to also get it running and take it to some car shows too. Just a hulk, that he's determined to put back on the road, like his GTO. The guy, and his father actually have some pretty nice looking GTOs and LeMans cars in their possession, you get glimpses of their nicer cars throughout the episodes, so he and his family are no strangers to Pontiacs. Anyway, I haven't seen anyone post anything about it, and I found it pretty entertaining to watch. If you have time to waste, this guy is pretty funny. I’ve never seen that one but I’ll have to check it out. I like these homemade videos that are popping up n the internet. I think they’re making it ok to drive an imperfect old car or work in progress.
The newest episode of Roadkill Garage has Frieburger and Dulcich driving a worn out T37 thru 5 states including NYC. Even though the car is a rat trap it stopped traffic in Manhattan with people taking pictures and giving thumbs up, and it looked like they had a blast doing it. Much more fun than picking the rocks out f tire treads at a car show.

The guy with the holey goat actually lives here in the KC area. I have watched all his videos and also ran into him at a local swap meet.

I watched some of one of his videos. Just wasn’t for me
I like Vice Grip Garage, Restored ( they just recovered and worked on a 72 Lemans, 350). I like Nicks Garage, especially when the dyno is in use.

The guy did something not many of us would do, he actually saved that piece of junk from the crusher, and put it on the road. It ain't pretty but it's still going down the road, kinda like modern art. The "Rolled Runner" he's doing now is almost as bad as the GTO was. |
