Default Difference between 71 and 72 AC

I also posted this in heating and cooling but I’m not sure that was the correct place to post. For A-body, is 72 factory AC any better with the Thermal Limiter and Super-Heat Shut-Off Switch than the 71 AC that does not have the limiter and super heat switch? What’s the difference and what do those ‘72 parts do? Thanks.

The "heat switch" on the 72 was a huge improvement from a daily driver point of view, basically if you ran out of freon without knowing it (cooler weather especially) the heat switch turns off the compressor. In 71 and older if you ran out of freon the compressor would still operate but without enough freon the oil doesn't circulate so you end up burning out the compressor which in turn spits its guts throughout the system messing up everything.

That being said it doesn't mean much for a typical classic car driver today. Most of us wouldn't drive around with the compressor engaged without noticing that we had no cooling,
