'69 GP, what gear?
'69 GP, 400, auto, no AC, what would the rear gear be?

Quote:
To verify jack up one rear tire off the ground. Then get under (be careful, use jackstands/wood blocks front and back to block the tires so the car can't roll!) and spin the driveshaft with the trans in neutral. Count the number of driveshaft turns that it takes to make the wheel go 'round exactly two times. If you get a hair more than 3-1/2 turns of the shaft, you've got 3.55s. The above method works for open rears, for a posi rear get both tires off the ground and count the turns of the shaft for exactly one tire revolution.

It's probably a 3.23.....or? You'll find the build sheet on top of the gas tank. Drop it and reach on top.. "BE CAREFULL". The parts car I have like yours had a 3.23 non-posi.

You can also pull the rear cover and get the numbers off the ring gear and divide them into one another to get the exact gear ratio.

Sounds like you have 3.08's. That's what my 69 400/TH400/AC has.

I love my 323's... has a nice tone at highway speeds, yet the low end to get her up and going quick. Gotta find a posi though.
