Default 66 Center Carb, California

Came across a nice 66 Tri Power center carb. It’s a California A.I.R carb with the correct float bowl and air horn. The Carburetor Shop info didn’t list the throttle body number for this carb, but the number on this body is the same as the bodies on the non A.I.R carbs. After researching this forum I learned that fitting at the bottom of the bowl is for a ported vacuum. I disassembled the carb and can see light from the fitting port to the area circled in orange.

1-Since this is nothing more than a ported vacuum can I simply plug the port in the float bowl and run this as a “normal” center carb?

2- Did the 66 Tri Powers use allen head screws instead of the slotted screws?

You can plug the vacuum port and use the carb as a 49 state carb.
The carb should have slotted phillister head screws in black. You can order parts from pontiactripower.com

FYI:

Center carburetor (S/T – 389) bowl casting 7031575).

Center carburetor (S/T – 389 A.I.R. bowl casting 7031624).
