Rear speaker enclosure
For my 72 with a factory AM/FM stereo with a single stock rear speaker (10 ohm) is it worthwhile to add the enclosure. I see the box with jute insulation is reproduced, but don't want to do it unless it makes a difference in the speakers function. So can you guys tell a difference?

If you get a new 10 ohm 6x9, or a good quality rebuild, it WILL be worth it. You can glue a stud to bottom of speaker magnet to hold the enclosure and look stock.
The sound is much deeper and more volume comes from the speaker into the car. With an old original, it will do nothing really. |

The OG studs pop rivets on the speaker, find a real one. I’d do it.

Thanks guys. Yes it a new reproduction 10 ohm. I got it from sm electro tech a while back. I will give it a shot, I'm all for improved function. Got to crank up my Boston 8-track and smile.

It does sound better with the box on it. I made my own bracket and used a nylon screw to hold it in place.

LOL. Actually it started on Hitch a ride but I did select each track to see how it sounded. Now I got to toss in my BOC tape and see if the cowbell sounds any better.
