led /plasma lights
I purchased some plasma tail light bulbs for a 65 GTO. I know there are several threads concerning led/ plasma lights, but could someone give me the short version as to how to make these bulbs work?

You will need to provide info and photos that describe the exact items that you have purchased. The easiest way to use LED taillights is to simply buy LED bulbs that utilize the same bulb base as the standard factory bulb. Just plug them in and go. You will need to change out the blinker resistor, however.

Bulb base is like std base. My problem I should have mentioned, is what blinker resister to use. Puntco plasma bulbs are the ones I am using. They burn fine, just will not blink. Help is much appreciated.

I bought LED lamps from superbrightleds in the US & I also bought their flasher unit which works with LEDs.

Any decent parts store should be able to sell you an electronic flasher. Normal flashers are electromechanical, you want the electronic version. They blink at a steady rate regardless of the load on the system.

Thanks for posting back. So often folks post in with issues, are offered help and advice and we never hear back. So glad you got the issue resolved!
We have a 64 and I've considered putting LEDs the tails just to keep the lenses from ever getting overheated. Can you post some pictures of your 65 with the lights off, tail lights on and brake lights on?

I just got your PM, but glad you're fixed up and running.
Something else to be aware of- the early cars used a single bulb for the dash turn signal light- this was accomplished by sharing a 'floating' ground of the non-lit bulb. If you encounter issues, you're gonna need to get a couple of diodes- superbrightleds.com is a GREAT source! They make a kit for motorcycles that'll do exactly what you need. This kit was referenced in the LED posts that I posted the Putco Plasma info in.

BTW- please post of pic of the Plasma LEDs lighting up the rear end- it'll really help people who are struggling with making the switch to LEDs.
