Truly a very old thread, but I've got a couple of comments.

To me, a "kickout" is full-length and full-height- the "kick out" begins at the passenger-side pan rail of the block (not merely an extended section of the original pan's sump, as in post#3). This does require special means for bolting to the passenger-side block rail, but it can be done. The custom Hamburger's pan on my V8 hemi has threaded plugs below each of those bolts to pass a socket & extension through.

It makes more sense to me to use the one-way screen (from Moroso or whomever) as a fitted windage tray, rather than just on the kick-out entry. The photo is what I made from the Moroso screen for my hemi four-cylinder. [By the way, the "kick out" in this engine was free- the unused four bores of the V8 block have passages to drain the "kicked out" oil harmlessly to the bottom of the pan to be scavenged!]

Steffs sent me some pics of their street pan. The race pan is a lot like it but the passenger side has a kickout that is even with the side of the block. They make one for stock 69 GTO frames.
Only thing is right now even my Canton pan hits the tips of the front main cap studs. I can heat it up and use a ball pein to do that. Any aluminum pan needs to be made that way from the start.
I am going to trace out the profile of the front cap as it all sits on the block and send it to Stan so it will be made to fit.
I see the aluminum pan omits some pan bolts. Must not be a issue.
But it has the kickout I want, proper baffles with accel and decel trap doors and the one way windage screen built in. It uses plugs like Jack referred to for access to the side passenger pan rail bolts.

I have a profile of my front cap on the way to Steffs. A good pan is worth HP. This 461, I will try and have all the little things done to get a big number for what it is.
I have a V pump but was not planning on running it. Thinking about it now. There is power to be had there also.
Question, I have the classic file fit rings already. .062. To take advantage of a V pump would running back cut low tension rings be needed ? Are they available in that size ? 4.155- .062
And its already balanced. But I can not imagine the minuscule difference in weight between rings effect the balance much.

The one for sale here seems to be lacking the trap doors for launch and deceleration.
Canton has told me they can make me a pan with the big kickout and the trap doors I need as well as the one way windage screen. The Steffs pan looks like it omits some bolt holes. Less bolt holes with aluminum's different expansion rates vs iron has me concerned about leaks down the road. They look very nice though.

I don't know much, but I now have four of these oil pans from Bob Maxey and they are all identical to the one Slowbird just sold. Fwiw

I should add we've never had any bearing issues whatsoever with these pans.

Why dont you go dry sump at the blindingly high h.p. level you're shooting for? Just cut up a stock pan to catch the oil and weld in some fittings for scavenging...

I have run a Moroso 20490 pan for years and never had a problem. I have found that you don’t need a ton of crap in the bottom of your pan to make it work. Years ago I had a fabricated aluminum pan on a Small block Chevy. It had 3 trap doors and baffles everywhere. It was a big pile of garbage. I spent so much time and money trying to get it to work. I should of just went dry sump and I would of saved a bunch and time and frustration.

Best advice you can give me is "write a check". You are the King after all.

For it's time it was the best commercially available pan. Full length kick out, good windage control. Its probably the best steel pan if you can get your hands on one.

D-car, if I were in your shoes. I would fabricate a pan that splits. This way you'd be able to baffle tightly to pump, thereby preventing slush up the on launch. The baffle would fastened from the bottom after upper pan went on before the sump is bolted on.
-Definitely full length kickout
- Decel baffle or trap door
-Directional screen tray
