Just because I said I would. Today was the first day in a long while I was able to work on the car. I needed a sand blaster and I was going to get a Harbor Freight. A friend of a friend said they had an Eastwood they used once for $100. I figured it had to be better than the H.F.

It was probably only used once.......but it was probably 20 some years old. The seal was like jelly. Would not seal. $45 for a new one? It's only a rubber ring. So anyway after some cleaning out of the old seal and some thinking I cut out a square out of an old inner tube. Cut a slit for the handle and slid it over. Tucked it in the top and it worked great.

Once I got it sorted it worked great........until it started raining........I got about 1/4 done. The pic just shows the crusty rusty frame blasted on the end and rain drops. I sealed what I did get done and hopefully will be able to get the rest ASAP.

It might be a good time to replace the leaf spring bushings and the one in the frame mount. Mine were totally shot , I removed the rear mount to do mine . Looks good otherwise, I wish I could have blasted my frame clean

Boy, I'll be glad when those frame rails get shortened. Make my knees hurt just looking at their pictures...

Cleaned up the steering box today. Hope to have it back in tomorrow so we can figure out the headers on that side.

I was just thinking...........I kind of hate to do it BUT it looks like I will be cutting the wheelwells. In the long picture I am planning on welding in 55 Nomad panels but the wheel wells here are solid as can be. Someone may be interested for repair to theirs.

So.....still working. I hated to cut the quarters so I ordered a wheel with a 5 inch backspace. Fits great.

Decided to relocate the shocks above the spring so I wouldn't have to disconnect them to change the tire.

I did finally get the frame trimmed.

Got started on the headers.

Glad you were able to get wheels that fit without having to cut the wheel wells. It looks great.

Hurrah!!!

Glad to see you didn't want to cut the fenders. Did you need to mini-tub it? Were shorter rear shocks required with the moved lower mounting?

No tub. 9 inch slicks. 15X8 wheel with 5 inch backspace. I could probably get a 10 inch slick in there with no cutting.

The mount was actually moved up. I used the shocks I had on there to start with. The stock bracket pinched with the Mopar spring perches so we made new ones. (The guy I got the axle from had put the Mopar perches on the axle).

I had the springs re-arched and new pins put in.
