Rear seal
My engine (68 400 ho) is leaking somewhere and it doesn’t appear to be valve covers so I’m pulling it to reseal and repaint. It needed a repaint anyway since it’s never been rebuilt so really faded.
I’m figuring I’ll do the oil pan gasket and rear seal but checking to see what type is reliable/durable long term. |

It doesn’t have much left on it at all paint wise...more bare metal than anything I think. I don’t mind going that route but I wish it wasn’t so bare.

Johnson Outboard Green is fantastic color for a 68 PMD engine.

I used the graphite seal from best gasket. Works well with no major leaks but tends to spot a little when the engine is cold.
