Default Redline tires

I need to order some 14” redline tires for my 66 GTO. Since they are rather expensive I figured I would see if anyone had any they were happy / weren’t happy with?

I was very happy with the redlines offered by Diamondback. They have the best variety of sizes and multiple rim diameters.

This is the link to their tire that is available in 14":

I have 3 sets of Diamond backs on different cars. In September I removed a set that was 13 years old and sold them for $225. These were Firestone Firehawks. I replaced them with a slightly less expensive Diamondback product.

Diamondback! Just got an email from them yesterday. Free shipping right now.

I bought a set of BF Goodrich Silvertown redline radials from Coker about 6 years ago. Positive: They looked really nice on the car. Negative: 1. They were very out of round. 2. Had a ton of road force vibration 3. Terrible wind up and breakaway under hard acceleration, wheel hop. 4. Took excessive weight to balance, 4 to 6 OZ on a 14" tire. 5. They were over $1000.00 a set. 6. Without the redline, they were equivalent to a $60.00 Chinese no name radial tire. Not recommended. Good for show field use only.

I have Diamondback tires. They are Firestone fire hawk Indy 500 tires. They reversed them and vulcanized the red line on the backside. Great looking and are holding well. No Regrets.

Default Redline

I have multiple sets of redlines and the best driving are Diamond back but the best looking are the Firestone redline radials. The Firestone radials ride nice but don't corner as well as the Diamond back. Good Luck!

I have a set of BFG redlines on my '67 GP. When I bought them I assumed they were based on the radial T/A casing.

They are out of round. 1 is shaped like an egg. I would never buy another set. My other big Pontiacs have cheap Hankooks on them and they are nice round and smooth.

I have 17” redlines I bought from Diamondback on my 68 and love them (Nitto’s). Glad I asked- I was about to pay the money for the Coker reproductions. Looks like I will buy from Diamondback again

When I went to 17", I put the redline on the rim. Now I just buy blackwalls, but retain the "stock" look...

My experience: The redline on my Diamondbacks is not as red nor as brilliant as the redlines on my Coker tires. They were that way when they were brand new. In the past,I've gotten Coker Classic redlines and had problems balancing them. Coker traded w/me until I got all 4 tires balanced. My choice? Coker. I purchase the redlines for their period "look". My Cokers look better.

Unless Coker did something with the dumb looking pie shaped mold lines around the face of the tire, I think those looked awful. That is why I went with Diamond back years ago

My redlines on my Diamondbacks have always been dull as well. They’re about 10 years old now. Thinking of going with Firestone Wide Oval redline radials this time around.

I had a set of red line tires back in 1971 0n my 67 GTO conv. I think they were Tiger Paws ,not 100% sure though. Those red lines were not "bright" back then. They had the same contrast as the tire itself.
