TH400 problem, need input
I was driving home from work and realized the trans wasn't shifting into high gear, about 40 was the max MPH. Stayed on secondary roads the rest of the way home. By the time I got to my driveway top speed was around 25 or so. I don't think the trans was shifting into second. The car did fine going to work, up to 65 or 70 no problem.
Googled th400 problems and read about the modulator valve as a possible culprit. Any thoughts? Car is a 68 Catalina.

Governor gear failure:
A modulator failing would only shift at WOT but would eventually shift. Having no shift at all points to the governor. It's easy enough to pull out and check. |

Okay, check the governor teeth, and plunger movement.
Replace the filter too. |
