Another vote for hydro boost. I pulled mine from a 90s Astro van. Had to buy one $15 PS hose and a brass T for the return and the firewall mount from pirate jack. I did have to cut and weld a new piece on the pedal pushrod.. Pretty easy install. Think I have around $75 in the whole setup. I must say I changed out the pad on the rear disc at the same time but I swear I have better brakes than my wifes new golf Sportwagon. I have 10-11 vac and the normal booster brakes seemed to work ok for the most part but this setup is like 50 year old brakes compared to modern car brakes. One of the best upgrades I've ever done.

What was the last year for the Astro Van?.

Are parts still out there on the parts shelves?

Thought I had a blown joint that would come and go, turned out to be vacuum pump turning on and off.

1985-2005 last year Astro van was produced, plenty of used parts in wrecking yards for them after a 20 year run. A new seal kit is less than $50, which is relatively easy to install.

There are plenty of diesel trucks around with hydro boost too. GM used the same basic unit for many years in production vehicles there is no shortage of GM vehicles in yards with hydro boost to choose from.
