914 Block is 4 engines at least
I forgot this Block was used for 2 bbl applications as well
Lots of 400's in 1970 ( these are Firebird, and Firebird HP ratings. ) All are drilled and tapped for 4 bolt main bearings. 400 Cu inch. 914 = 265 HP 2bbl 914 = 330 hp 914= 345 hp R/A III ( has 3 = 4 Bolt main caps) 914 = Modified the last digit of the casting number at engine plant to # 915= RA IV = 370 hp. ( has 3 = 4 Bolt main caps) >>> Other versions with DIFFERENT ratings were used in 1970 in other Pontiacs. |

yup, every 1970 model year 400 block was based off this casting.
for each application there is generally at least two codes, so (taking into account that the 400-2bbl in the Esprit was TH400 only) that's actually seven engines there... For a while I wanted a 1970 block to use for my intended 'pure stock' build, but the premium most seem to want because they have all magically become RAIII blocks, doesn't warrant it. I will probably build my 1972-WS block as a 1970-WS block
