Default Washer Pump woes

I bought a new washer pump for my car and installed it the other day.
Pushed the wiper button to set the pump off into motion and nothing, just the wipers go. No washer pump

So I stripped out my dash bezel to get to the switch and check all the wiring, all looked good
Made sure that the switch body was making a good ground to car
Still nothing at the pump when switch is pressed.
Now I started to think that the switch is bad.
So I remembered I had an old Universal washer pump
Like this one -----> https://www.amazon.co.uk/Techniks-CL...9523053&sr=8-3

Plugged it in, using a couple of wires jumped from the original wiring, pressed the wiper switch and BINGO, the Universal Washer Pump jumped into action, let go of the switch and the pump stops. Good, the switch is working

So I plugged back in the proper pump and again nothing, left the wipers running and jumped, with a piece of wire, from the Blue/White wire to ground and the pump kicked into action, I tried it a few times like this and sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't.
Is this brand new pump knackered

Thanks for any ideas
Mick

Jump to about the 8 minute mark in this video.

The whole video is good for trouble shooting wiper and washer problems.

Hi Clay
I have seen that video and did make up some wires to try as per the vid. All worked fine, but the battery I had to use was a fully charged one with plenty of voltage.
The battery on my car only has about 11 volts, so I am wondering if there is not enough power in the battery to energise the pump.
Might be clutching at straws here but will try again tomorrow with a fully charged battery
Thanks for reply

Just to let others know, if they have the same problem at some point
I put the fully charged battery on my car and now the washer pump is working as it should :-)
