Master cylinder autopsy 71 Lemans with question
Pulled the master cylinder from my 71 Lemans today because I found it was leaking at the booster. Disassembled it and found that it didn’t have a stop screw in the front reservoir and when I pulled the secondary piston there was a small chunk out of the piston. Bore was seriously smooth, wouldn’t even need to be honed. Crazy that the brakes still worked great. It’s the original master. 5452310
Guess I just wanted to confirm that the set screw was a mandatory thing?
who knows when it disappeared, but I’ve had it since 2002. Might see if I can rebuild it if I could locate a stop screw and secondary piston.
