Jolly Green Giant II up for sale
I'll start by saying "it's not mine", but it's pretty well known in this part of the country. I thought it would be of interest to post.

The car looks great...in the picture from the '80s.

I'm the last guy to think that every GTO needs to be a nut/bolt perfect restoration, but there are some cars you just don't cut. I think a 4speed, tripower, 65 Rag is on that list.
That said, I think it looks great and I'd love to own it. But I'd feel the same (better, actually) if it was really a Tempest and cloned. |

That car is so far removed from anything other then a Fun Track Car.
I knew it was going to be a limited market sale. This guy jumped in with both feet with a different approach A Flipper who grabbed it up and thinks putting new Wheels,/Tires, Exhaust, Interior bits, Bumpers and some Trim will get him his asking RUN FORREST RUN!

It does say "Rick GTO".
So if anybody here is man enough to tell this guy how to spend "his" money on "his" car, knock yourself out. I think the car is just fine. Better if it were a hardtop but again, his car. |

.
I’m not that impressed, likely a terse look at a car show and onto the originals...but hey...to each their own I guess...

"Rick" ruined an otherwise good car. To each his own...

Way back when Rick was getting the itch to go racing again it became an evolution.
The Ol car was not being well maintained in as far as body and chassis. So as he kept wanting to go faster it became easier for him to go full tilt. He had some scary passes at the track on the factory rails, time had taken it's toll on the chassis so he built it to have fun. There is very little of the OE to pass as nothing more then a FULL RACE Pontiac. This car is in no way street friendly, even with all the shiny new bits this thing was built to RUN.

I saw Rick running it at PITP 13 or 14 years ago. It was no where near as slick as today (actually crude), but it appealed to me. I had owned a similar colored 65 GTO convertible in the early 80's, so it caught my eye. That particular day Jim LeHart (Mr. Peabody/CVMS) and I were at the fence watching it (he said he had built the engine) make passes and I think it had issues with the 4 speed. I believe it had a Jerico in it back then.

That engine was short lived due to crude assembly practices.
Once he stepped over to Butler he really got the itch again. There isn't much on this car that wasn't modified, However to be clear this '65 was always a 20 footer and he knew it. Thats what made it easier for him to built it the way he wanted. Even he realizes time waits for no one and he had mentioned a few time in the past about selling, but it was one of his last close calls that made him re-think his obsession. He hit some oil and did a full 180 all the while keeping off the wall and driving out of it. He is a hell of a driver and has nothing to prove. He's 73+ and good with it.
