455 Starter Wires Question
Quick question......I have a 1973 455 that has been in my 1970 GTO for twenty years originally sourced from a 1973 Grandville. A rod knock required a rebuild with a Crower 60919 cam, 6X4 heads.
Unfortunately it has been apart so long I cannot recall where this bracket goes. I am fairly certain that wires run in the tube down to the starter? Unsure if it originally bolted to the intake or maybe the back of the block? Any help would certainly be appreciated. Sam |

There's a picture of the heat shield tube installed in the thread at this link;

A pic of your setup would be better?
Depends if you have the 70 original type tube Or the 73 style that was probably on the engine? This is for a Firebird though, not sure what a 73 B-body or GTO would be, but probably similar? The early 1st Gen Bird is also probably different?

yes a pic of your bracket/tube would be best to see what you actually have.
if its correct for 73, it should be this type of tube used on early/mid to late 70's cars, or at least 2nd gen firebirds. i imagine gtos would be the same but not sure. i have sold a couple of this style tube to guys with gtos & they said it worked great. also it uses a standard bolt to bolt to the head, not a stud. the narrow tube shown in the link above is for 1st gen firebirds or cars 1970 & earlier & is only for the solenoid wire, the larger tubes are for the positive power cable too. |
