Default Wood Wheel

Does anyone know the color process Performance Years used on their wood wheel restorations years back? I had them do my 67 wood wheel and it came out perfect. Fast forward and I have the color just starting to come off at the 8 and 4 o'clock positions. I'm thinking I can lightly touch up the fading portion and clear coat the entire wheel. I don't want to use incompatible products. Did they use wood stain and clear like a minwax product, or a paint and clear like an automotive product?

good question
perhaps Chris can comment
I redid a few that were worn but not cracked
I used a hacksaw blade to scratch the grain in the worn spots and Deft
wood stain spray followed by satin clear. Do mist coats only.
