Default Spare Tire and Jack Question

I'm searching for info on:

A. How to determine whether my car came with space saver spare or full size spare, and

B. What is best source for the blue paint for repainting the base and the ratcheting mechanism?

I have all the jack pieces, just need to get it all cleaned up and painted.

Well, does the car have the original trunk stowage decal? They are different for cars with the space saver versus the full size spare.

If you have the build sheet, it will be listed as "N65 SPACE SVR SPR". It was a no cost option, but it will not be listed on the PHS.

No build sheet, but I will have to check the trunk decal...didn't even think of that. I've been so focused on other areas of the car I can't even tell you if there is a decal on the trunk lid.

My understanding is that if you were to have a space saver spare it would show up on the build sheet as well as the Window sticker. If it's not there than you would have a full size spare. My 74 came with a full size and i put the space saver in.

O.K., there is no decal on the trunk lid, and nothing noted on the PHS or window sticker to indicate that it had a space saver, so i'll go with a full-size on a plain steel wheel. Should I paint the wheel gray or black?

If the car was ordered with Honeycombs, and not with the space saver, the spare would be a Honeycomb. The same logic goes with the Rally II's.

Just heard from a previous owner that it had a full size Rally II in it. I'll probably just find another Honey and put that in for now. At some point, I will find a matching set of Rally IIs and have two sets, like shoes, that I can change depending on my mood and my outfit! Right now I'm in a Honeycomb state of mind.

Back to the second part of my question in the original post - what is the best source for the correct blue paint for the stand and ratchet parts? What is the correct finish on the post and lug wrench?

Thanks,
BJ

Duplicolor Chevrolet blue, part #DE1609 or Inline Tube INL10337. Shaft is cad plated.

The lug wrench is semi gloss black.

As far as I know, the position of the tiedown will tell you if it had a Space Saver spare or not.

So, is the upper tiedown location for the space saver?

Yes, moved up farther into the trunk for the space saver spare.

Later years had both mounts, not sure when this became standard so doesn't help much in that instance.
