Working on a matching numbers 70 GTO RA III, with all correct parts, all rebuilt. Experiencing a high idle after warm up of up to 1700 RPM's. idle screww is completely backed out and primary butterflies are closed. Checked the fast idle cam, but that is not the problem. I did notice that each of the primary butterflies has a 1/8" hole drilled into them. Does anyone know if these are factory and belong there or not? If not, I think I found my answer. If so, I think I'm buying an Elderbrock Q-jet. Thanks Allan

Allan, they are part of the idle bypass circuit and do belong. Don't buy the 'e', the Pontiac RA carb is better. Give me a call during offices hours and will try to help. Jon.
