It was never offered to the public in a normal production car. A few Pontiac racer had access to these engines but GM closed down their racing involment prior to making them available for production.

Imagine goin' to a bank and telling the loan person "Can I have about $10K for a a Ram Air V?"

Incidentally, whenever I see a stinkin' Toyota RAV 4 or whatever it's called, I wonder, "Did some Toyota designer see RAV on a 69 GTO in an old photo?

After all, Chevy calls their hot small brick the LS1 when Pontiac used that name for the Ram Air IV.

I really thought (and was right)that building a COMPLETE CORRECT V motor was going to be expensive.UNTILL I started building a SCCA 303 short deck motor! The heads and block were the cheap part! The 2-4 303 Xram intake and the correct tall tach drive dist.so you can use it would pay for a GOOD complete 455 HiPo motor!
