Anyone have anything in writing as to what color combination 69 judge stripe was recommended by Pontiac to be used for the 70 gto's sport stripe option.
I'm most interested in which one was recommended with orbit orange but posting them all may benifit others.
Thanks in advance. Mike

Mike,
I've got a couple of charts here, but as you know, Orbit orange was a 70 color and the recommendations on 69 stripes I have list only 69 colors. I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm not sure there was a recommended 69 style stripe color(available only in the first half of 70?)for that 70 color. I will post both charts if you think it will help.

Wasn't Orbit Orange a special 70 color brought out mid production year?

Were the '69 Judge sport stripes only available the first couple months of '70 model production?

OPH,
I could be wrong, but I think Orbit Orange came out late as a replacement for the Carousel Red 69 color that was dropped, because of customer requests. The long 69 stripe was available for any GTO in the first half of 70. Someone should correct me on this, but I believe the eyebrow stripes were Judge only from the beginning of 70.

Kurt,
The two charts you have are most likely the same ones listed in the gto restoration guide. Which lists the correct stripe/color combination for the 69 and 70 year judges.
Just thought there might be a recommendation for the 69 stripe on the 70 colors since it was an option on those colors.
I've pretty much already decided on the Yellow/Red/BLACK but would consider pontiacs recommendation, which there may not be.

Good point OPH, Another thing I did not know.

Yes, only the Judge came with eyebrow stripes for '70. I just don't know how late a color Orbit orange was...do know it was available by Jan of '70. To be absolutely sure, one would need to find a '70 Pontiac Distribution Bulletin noting what color of "sport stripe" was available with this late offer special color. I imagine this info would be included with or follow the announcement of Orbit Orange as a factory color.

Another way to figure this out... when the Tempest line was changed (in name)to T-37 in Febuary of '70, the '70 1/2 GT-37 was introduced & it also used the '69 Judge stripes. Car distribution bulletins would have been published right before this noting the stripe/color choices with the new GT37 package. Orbit Orange would be a recognized color by then & would be on the chart as well.

In "a book of information- an indian uprising" on page 391, they show the side view of a 69 judge and it lists all 69 stripe colors. Then on page 449, where they show the 1970 judge, they list all 70 stripe colors. But on page 448, where they show the 69 stripe on the side of a 70 model, they only list one stripe color, the white, red, black. Does that mean the white, red, black was the only color 69 stripe you could get on a 70?
