I was studying the assembly manual for a 70 GTO the other day and came across something interesting.

In the section that details the stripe / decal locations for the Judge there was a page that showed the Judge decal placed on the spoiler, and a GTO decal on the trunk lid near the lower edge, right hand side.

This is similar to a 69, which did have the Judge decal on the spoiler, but I never saw that on on a 70.

Actually I prefer this setup, but was wondering how correct it would be??

Any thoughts?

Don

Don,all the '70 Judges I've seen had the "Judge" decal in the lower RH corner of the trunk lid. Some of the restoration books I've had have several mistakes in them and incorrect applications of different parts,69 grills on a '68 GTO,wrong part numbers listed etc...I've learned to always double check anything on written paper!

True, I ALWAYS check several sources and then go with what you see as the most consistant, or what looks the best; various placement(s) during productin of "sticker" type decals was also common at the plant.

Don,
The decal on top of the '70 Judge rear spoiler is incorrect.

If you can make out the wording & dates (if any) in the legend (top rh box) of the stripe dimensions page in the asm manual, it may show a date when the rear decal was REMOVED FROM DESIGN PLANS & placed on the trunk lid. Decyphering the legend of these sheets in the asm manual, while hard to read, basically tell a tale. I only have the '71 assembly manual, so I can't ck the page for the '70 spoiler decal design placement.
