T-10 to Muncie switch ,77 T/A
Right now my 77T/A has a 462 with the original T10.whats needed besides a 10 spline clutch set up and a Muncie trans to do this. Its a numbers matching car and one day i will redo the motor ,but for now it has my 462 w/62 heads ported bla bla bla...I don't want to kill the T-10 thats original to the car.will every thing work with a Muncie...And what shifter will i need.

Often the shifter linkage will work reverse is a little different on the two . I used a Vertigate form a Muncie on the T10 from a 80 Camaro in my Camaro when it had the SBC in it. You can even convert the Munice input shaft to fine spline if you do not want to swap clutches. Clutch probably cheaper.

t10
t10 also has a turbo 400 size output shaft most muncies are the smaller output shaft so you will have to change the driveshaft yoke also.

The 77 should have an ST10. And yes TH400 yoke on them.

FWIW, 71-74 M21 HD have the T400 yoke output shaft, and the fine spline input shaft. Also rumored to be stronger than a standard M21, (better alloy in the gears) hence the HD designation. I had one in my 73 Grand Am that I was never able to break, so if you can run across one of them for a reasonable price, it may have better longevity than the conventional Muncie.
I broke plenty of standard Muncies (M21 and M20s) over the years with street tires, so I have little faith in their abilities to live behind a stout Pontiac in a 4000# Firebird. |

By 1971, ALL Muncies had switched to 26 spline input shaft and 32 spline output, M20, M21, M22

When Mid-America racing outlawed 4 speeds that were converted to 2 speeds I went to a ST-10 and just bought the u joint that had different ends.

I’ve had better luck keeping ST10’s together than I have Muncies.
