Question about 69/70 leather , i was told that the leather seats in my 70 gp are not real leather , was told it is just simulated leather . I'm thinking about finding someone here in town to custom make some new covers for me and would like to know for sure? ..

PHS says LEATHER-GEN not sure what gen is .

The "GEN" refers to Genuine leather seating surfaces. The sides of the seats are done in standard vinyl, but the rest is real leather.

pheonixpnr,

The Drivers side is Manual and does not recline. The car does not have power windows or power seats.

Just my 2 cents but the leather (custom Interior) option on the 69 just makes the car!!! It's not so much the leather its more the beautiful pattern of the seats. Gives an "Eldorado" feel to the interior.

Best $199.05 you could spend. I restored one in the late 80's, the seating surfaces were leather but all the non contact areas were vinyl.

Leather was also optional on Firebirds and as part of the Brougham option on Bonneville convertibles. The medium (sometimes referred to as Mustard gold) gold color was identical to the gold interior of the GTO. It has a greenish base to it.

Default Rectangular buttons!

Not nearly as "interesting" as 69. Note the rectangular buttons not found anywhere else that I know of. I imagine GM used them on SOMETHING else. Anybody know? If you see a trashed 70 leather interior, save the buttons!!

Sorry for the lousy pics, we have snow up on the mountain.
Keith and everyone, it just hit me - these buttons were used on the 1970 Olds Toronado. There is a green one for sale on e-bay with some good photos of the interior and the buttons look identical. Also on another thread you had mentioned a 1970 GP you were getting ready for paint. I saw a few photos of the gorgeous SSJ from Norwalk but didn't know you had another 70 you were working on? Details? I as well as others are always interested!
