Default Less than 30... could it be?

Has one of the 22 close ratio 4-speed HO cars finally surfaced??? Wish there was more info and pictures. Thanks for posting this!

i was looking at an old phs for a '69 and in one section it showed a break down of production #'s by engine trans gear. if i'm reading it right, there were only 3 cars made with a 428/390, close ratio 4 speed, and 3.90 gear combo.

anyway, numbers are just numbers. driving them is where the enjoyment is at. ;^)

Matt:
3 THREE SPEED HO close ratio cars, one was owned by Joe Zeilenski's dad back in the day.

22 FOUR SPEED HO Close ratio cars. Sad story, got what was left of one that was parted out, still have the transmission. Was in MA, parted by a GTO guy, never knew exactly what he had. Car was loaded but rusted out badly.

Nothing that I couldn't have fixed....

Most guys assume that the car is a close ratio car. SOmeone ask what the rear gear is...should be 3.90 or better. I'll bet one of the 94 wide ratio cars. Either way how did they get 30? Just a SWAG when the numbers are known and easily found.

IF anyone is serious, PHS would be a MUST to know exactly what it is. May even be a 370 car. Or an automatic car converted.

you have got to be kidding me! i bet i know exactly who you are talking about. western MA? i've know him for years and had asked him if he ever got a GP stick, let me know. find out after the car is gone that he had one. didn't know it was an HO though.

$#%@&*$!!! right in my backyard. rest assured, it would still be around today if i had found out about it in time.

bought a 70 from someone else, that had black leather seats in it from a '69. the seats came form that same person in MA. that's how i found out he had it, but when i called it was already gone.

Keith, do you have the PHS for the car that trans came from by chance? If not, I'll pay for it if you can get me the VIN stamp off the trans. Would like to at least have an invoice for one of them.

I have the trans on the shelf in my storage "tunnel" so might be a while but will get it out to check it. BUt I"ll definitely get the VIN for you.

YUP western MA. He has a line on a 64 GP with stick and tripower now. Evidently junk too expect he would part it.

Just happened to see the guy at carlisle, had a lot of GP leftovers available, ac boxes, odds anad ends, no good options but basically wants the rest out. I don't need it since I have 6 of everything already, so if anyone's intersted I can pass it along.

him and his friend recently parted a 69 SJ and 70 J. was a little surprised at how much he made in parts. looks like they are money makers.

they are both on the forum and one has an add for sale on here for the rest of the stuff. http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...d.php?t=664741

i also saw he had contacted a member (from PA) about his 69 428 converted 4 speed with a dealer added "astro roof" (?) to make an offer. wonder what he wanted to do with that one. hmmmmmm.

while i hate to see some of the cars get parted, some had it comming. you can't save them all.

the guy in MA is really a good dude all around. he has restored alot, and i mean alot, of cars over the years. some rare ones too. all very nicely done. some have done well in national shows and been in magazines. IMO, best of all, he drives them. when one of his family got married, the bridal partys were chauffeured in a fleet of GTO's.

Regarding the car in question to be auctioned... after looking at the description again I'm pretty sure its the same car we have seen before from a previous Mecum auction...

Good looking color combo. I don't like the wheels in Chrome and the hood tach looks to be in the wrong spot?

I like the color combo.... but could live without the "bling" dash bezel.

PY sells the dash decal kit for $30-$35...The bezels were just rechromed but no stickers put on, easy fix.

Previous auction from 2008 (link above) states matching numbers. Would like to see the PHS on this car myself.

Default M-20 car

Hello all - especially Grant and Keith!
Per the auction info from 1/2008, the car at that FL auction sold for $42500.
The car was described as having the M-20 trans.
I am very interested to see what the current market brings for this one.
I'm suprised the dash bezels were not completed; the mirrors are wrong but that is a minor item.
If the car is still sitting next Saturday I will try to inspect it closely.
I am also requesting that my uncle (who is attending more days than I can) GET THE VIN.

I hope to have my car on the street at some point this summer!
(It's a time issue, where the car is 40 miles from me and I can't go and work on it whenever I want.)

Hello Joe!

I'm curious too to see what it fetches. Would like to see the PHS on this car as well.

That's great, be sure to post some pictures when you get her up & running!
