Hi Guys,
I purchased a few parts from the previous owner of this car a few of months back - it had a "WF" engine with worked 62 heads - he said original to the car, aftermarket exhaust, intake, distrubuter & carb, seats redone with BMW leather and many other non factory changes. |

Saw the car today-body work looked friendly to me-you wave at it-it waves back. Cool car still with the 428 and a 4 speed.

The car is an original SJ with 428 370 hp engine, factory 4 speed, regular vinyl interior no power windows, blower type rear defogger, wood wheel and tilt. Not HO not leather per build sheet. Hood tach and leather added, as was rear valance mods, wheels etc.
ORiginally a PA car had quarters replaced with patch panels then sprayed. Traded it half way through resto for a 73 Vette. Original engine was rebuilt a couple times, guy before me raced the car so hard the axle bearings were walking out the housing. I beleive the original 4 speed was lunched by Ed Gartner, powershifting after one of the rebuilds after I sold it to Paul. Original gear was 3.55 but Paul changed it to 3.23 I think. He did race it once or twice and I think it was in a magazine shoot out, but with a heavy car and no gear I believe it blew the clutch. I think the car was repainted again or at least the hood and fender after it got crunched somehow, I think the hood popped up on it when Paul let his wife drive it. Don't recall the exact story since it was about 4-5 years ago. A factory 4 speed car, but a 370 vinyl seat car, no hood tach by build sheet. Never know what you're getting at auction. |

Bought it in 1989 or 1990, sold in 1994. was painted but not assembled, traded for a Vette that I thought was less to finish. Fortunately I passed through the Vette phase. I"d say $26k a little strong for the car. I'm certain the new owner will enjoy it though. Does kind of make me wonder what my blue car would do, but I would ever find out.

Whew! Some story - I think $42.5K back in early 08' was way too much.
Facinating but not suprising that you used to own it Keith! It sure has had much changed or added. I still haven't seen a legit 69 GP HO stick car go at an auction - not any auction that I can recall. I'm convinced the rarity and lack of survivors are why some of the high end collectors have never had one. Milt Robeson and Floyd Garrett come to mine. (Plus, it IS a GP, not a GTO.) I for one am NOT fond of big dollars for musclecars. I do know Steve Ames has that early build Limelight (ick) Green J. My uncle was not there today but he, my father and I will be there on Saturday. If the car is still there I will look it over. I'll still take the VIN down if possible. |

No log just memory. With only a few WL motor cars out there, it's hard to find real ones, and usually they aren't on the auction circuts. Andy the bronze car went to GA? Did Robson sell that at his auction? Ames still have the other car?

Yes, the car went to Georgia. No, he didn't sell it at his auction. It took him four years to pry it from me but with a young family I felt it was time. I still have a 428 (370) 4 speed and an HO automatic so things are to bad! |
