Actually, Gold is the correct color name for '69. Brown, Saddle and Sandalwood were used in '70. That's the problem with the '69 gold interior cars, they seem to have three different shades.

FWIW - 3.7% of the 1970 GPs had the Y85 "Custom Leather Trim Group" option.

Unfortunately I don't have the 1969 MY number . . .

Thanks for that info Lloyd! That is a low percentage for '70... probably why I haven't seen as many compared to '69, but then again there were half as many GP's built in '70.

You're most welcome, Grant.

Don't get on the GP forums as much as I should. Never have owned one, but always loved 'em.

Back in the day, my first car was a plain jane 350HP auto, voodoo green '69 GTO. My best friends' brother bought a LOADED Yellow / Black Cordova / Black leather gut '69 SJ, 428HO auto that absolutely tore my GTO a new a$$hole, LOL! That car FLEW!

Still keeping an eye out for a '72 SJ. I have no room nor money for one, but . . .

If you'd like a copy of the 1970 PMD options report lemme know and I'll shoot you a copy (pdf). bell-auto@comcast.net

My friend has a 70 J with Saddle interior and is much lighter and less yellow then mine.
I was wondering if that was also available in 69 also, guess not.
Even in my car, there seems to be at least three different shades, between different components.

Great story about the HO GP! I wonder if that car is still around? These GP's aren't as big and slow as they might appear.

'72 SJ, I'll keep my eyes & ears peeled!

Thanks again for offering that report, great stuff!

It's be cool if it were still around, but that was nearly 40 years back! . . . He traded that GP in on a used '72 Camaro SS/RS. Neat car, 350 4V, duals, etc. but it didn't run like that GP did, LOL!

Missed out on a Sundance Orange, white cordova, white gut '72 SJ on e-bay a few years back. Got sniped in the end for just a few $$$. Car was SUPER clean, unmolested, original paint and low mileage - just the way I like 'em. Price was RIGHT, too. Oh well . . .

Glad you're enjoying that PMD report!

That Sundance Orange car sounds like one that sold on ebay just a few months ago. That's a great color combo! Too bad you missed the other one, that's how you want to find them for sure.

70 leather

Not nearly as "interesting" as 69. Note the rectangular buttons not found anywhere else that I know of. I imagine GM used them on SOMETHING else. Anybody know? If you see a trashed 70 leather interior, save the buttons!!

Sorry for the lousy pics, we have snow up on the mountain.

Did the 70s with leather have the same specifics that the 69s had. Molded sails, thick cut carpet, door lights, etc.?

Never seen those '70 GP leather seats before, Keith. Only a couple of leather equipped 69 GPs, for that matter.

Man, those buttons sure do strike a bell with me. Maybe I saw them on an Olds or Brrrrruick back in the day?

Lloyd, as soon as you mentioned Buick it came to me... I'm thinking '69 or '69 Riviera had something similar.

Oh cool, I'll start Buiick catalog shopping.

70 had the cut pile carpet, door lights but no embossed sail panel trim. "Earmuffs" were 69 only.

Here's a photo of a late type cup with the finger guard...
that looks like what I have. I'm not all that well-versed on the GP's. I do know I loved the one's I had! Four speed had a RA IV-ish cam...really turned some heads! Didn't know what I had at the time, to be honest. Oh, well. Lessons learned. Ron

Default Leather with Passenger recline seat

1969 Gold Leather. Front seat leather is shot, but the rear is very good. Like other Gold interiors, nothing seems to match for color.
