Default 73 Brewster FIREBIRD

Posting this because I don't think I have ever seen another one before.
Brewster with White Deluxe and White Vinyl Top
Pretty bare for options , not even power brakes.
But looks to be in good shape.
Currently for sale on Faceboob @ $22k with 76,000 miles in Massachusetts
Looks like its been listed for 3.5 months already

Good car to do a 4RivetRestoration on a rusty BG T/A

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...tory_type=post

Have seen a couple Formulas that were Brewster , but this is the first Firebird for me.
Kind of a novelty

And no Power Brakes?

Looks cool for a 'plain Jane'.

They stated on their listing that it has power brakes -
but I didn't see a brake booster.

Have any of you guys seen a Brewster Bird before ?
How many others have you seen , if so ?

Not trying to hype this car , it just seems really unique by the color.
And made me wonder why I haven't seen at least a couple or few others in the internet age.

My '73 Brewster Green 455 T/A back in December '73. Had 2 stripped head bolt threads in the block, Heli-Coiled under warranty and traded it in on a '73 Grand Prix.

Base bird with deluxe interior. Seems like it could have been an ordered car. The most common option on a base bird ( v8) is AC.

I thought it was Black at first , which would be even more unusual for a 73 Bird or 73 TA
But its very dark green , way darker than Verdant.
The catch to all of that , is the car has been repainted before.

Trim tag paint code would tell
Doubtful they have a PHS on such a plain jane

I completely agree , an odd combo of options to be missing Pwr Brks and AC.
In Mass I could see the non-ac , but its an oddball

There was at least one other Brewster Green 1973 Firebird out there. In the mid-1980s, there was one in the Charlotte area.

In the early 80s, I met an engineer that worked for Duke Power in Charlotte. One of his co-workers owned a 1973 Brewster Green bird. Another party I knew bought a mostly original but tired white 1970 Formula Ram III 3-spd car. He repainted the Formula and removed the vinyl room, and converted it to 4-spd. A few years later, he sold the Formula to the owner of the BG Firebird. I think the BG Firebird was sold not long after he bought the Formula, and the Formula was sold a few years later. I believe the Formula went to the Atlanta area, and I have no idea what happened to the BG car. I think it was an Esprit and was well optioned.

Glad someone has seen another BG Firebird , somewhere.
Seeing this one on Fboob made me realize - I had never seen another one.
Too many questions, but I think its mostly due to all the other colors they could pick instead.
TA's had 3 color choices - so BG stood a better chance on TA's.

Did you ever see or hear about the converted BG car that Mark Covell had in GSO in mid to late 80's ?
Was a 72 LucyBlue/Black Deluxe 4spd AC Trans Am #s drivetrain car.
Spoilers and Flares removed , RA Formula Hood and Induction added , painted Brewster.
I can't remember if TA fenders were left on it or not.
He bought it that way , in great condition.
I was not a fan of BG in those days at all ,
about lost my lunch when he told what it really was under the BG paint.

Not even funny, Todd. All the turn & burn tag swappers need a good #ss kickin before their indictment & day in court.

Brewster Green as well as Verdant Green '73 base 350 Birds & Esprits were out there, know I've pulled parts on half a dozen.

Rarer is a Julep Green (close to '69 Camaro Rallye green) on a '72 Bird.
Parted in the early 00's on a Julep Green/black vinyl top '72 350 Bird in old Dallas @ Don's Fair Deal. Don was about to shut the place down. Ended up going to his "All You Can Carry" event right before he crushed out . Last time, I ran into Floyd Hand, miss seeing Floyd's posts here on PY!

Baron,

I know Mark Covil, I believe he did a little welding work on one of my cars in the mid-80s. I think I originally met him at Carolina Auto Fair or the old Metrolina Fairgrounds swap meet that Tom Mack put on.

I remember Mark telling me that he had a tough time getting the car home. It's been a long time, but I think he said one of the bearings seized up on the trailer or the tow vehicle when he was coming home with the car. Mark was calling people he knew to get some help, but I think I wasn't home at the time. I was living just outside of Charlotte back then.

I think Mark bought the car from someone further south, maybe Atlanta or Columbia or Greenville SC. I saw the car once, and it was basically cloned into a BG Formula. The VIN number was definitely a 72 T/A. I think I have some photos of the car somewhere.

I moved to the Raleigh area around 1992, not long after we had a second child. I lost touch with Mark, haven't seen him since probably 1990. Is he doing anything with cars?

I still have that Andy's Indians cap if you want it. I have a friend who moved to Asheboro, I go down that way sometimes to see him.

Mike

Julep Green is a color you don't see often. I picked up a nose, fenders, and plastic lower valence off a Julep Green Firebird some time in the 1980s. It had been hit in an accident that damaged the rear corner. Luckily the wrecker towed it from the rear and didn't damage the valence.

I haven't heard anything out of Floyd Hand in a long time. Did he pass away, or just get out of cars?

Remember Lloyd Coulson? I don't think I've heard anything out of him in a while.

Haven't seen Mark in maybe 20 years .
Last time I did he was running the Econo-Body shop in GSO.
Years back he and his son were doing a later 2nd Gen for the son.
He had sort of been out of cars for a while before that.
Son was only about 18 - and was killed before finishing it.
Mark finished it and probably still has it.
He was highly instrumental in forming POCI Club in GSO back in early'ish 80's.
And in getting the 86 POCI Convention to GSO.

Lloyd C. of TX got very very sick years ago, but made a recovery.
I don't know how well he recovered but I hope he is doing real fine.
He hasn't rejoined the forum since he got sick.
During his sickness some dirtbag hacked his email contact list and was sending out spoofed emails pretending to be Lloyd . Claiming to send pictures etc ... a link to click on.
A lot of people on here were getting them.
I don't think anyone ever clicked on the links, they looked poisonous.
I still get them almost weekly for years now.
Its not his fault and I hope that isn't what has kept him away from PY Forum.

Still want the Hat ! haha
Thanks for hanging on to it Mike.

I am pretty sure the guy who had the BG 73 Firebird took it to Autofair. I am pretty sure he sold his white 70 Formula Ram III there as well.

Do you remember a 1970 Formula 4-spd in the brown color in the Greensboro area back in the 1980s. I came very close to buying that car, and I should have. I just couldn't bring myself to like the color.
