...and today

PM me the details on your TA please.
Hey Starlight, is your Chevelle originally from Canada ? If so, it can be documented thru GM of Canada, just like PHS. You probably already know that but for someone considering buying it, that is a big PLUS.

Yeah, but i don't look into ebay and other sales sites constantly to keep me from buying more cars...so i missed this one. I have seen that a couple of SD Formulas have been lowered in price on Ebay...will the prices readjust downwards in general or was this just an exeption ?

Does anyone have feedback on RK MOTORS in Charlotte N.C.?
They offer trade options on vehicles they list for sale. The inventory looks pretty respectable.

Their Inventory is very respectable but they buy everything at auctions and do not check them for all the important numbers. they buy the eye candy and you will pay above market value in my opinion.

Two of the Formulas on ebay are from the same seller and the prices will adjust down until sold, mainly because he's a dealer. If interested in either, research the cars VERY thoroughly to know exactly what your getting.

Larry, stay away from them. very shady, and they seem to have little or no knowledge about the cars they sell. Ram4King said it best.

NOOOOOOOO!

DONT DO IT LARRY!!!

Wait til next year after I have sold off my hemi charger, so I can finally buy your car after harassing you about it for a decade or so.

There are tons of LS6's out there but no other SDs like yours.

Heck, I'll trade you my Viper Project Car/Magazine test car for the SD...If I can ever get it off the jackstands in my garage.

(I also concur with the above warning on dealers, especially on the dealer with the eternally-on-Ebay, silver 73 SD Formula which conveniently no longer mentions the SR block or the added/missing options mentioned by the prior seller).

I had a great experience with RK Motors.

They sold a freshly restored Y88/Z code Trans Am that Tom Fischer at Muscle Car Alley restored. The car sold for quite a bit more than I would have ever received via Ebay...President of JEGS...one of many "regular" customers of RK, purchased the Y88 from me.

If you are interested in RK, Larry, PM me, and I can get you the contact info of the person I worked with through the whole process.

I would not hesitate to deal with them again.

car was bought new by Texas millionare oil tycoon Guy Mabee....one of two SD cars he purchased from Permian Pontiac in Midland-Odessa Texas. The other SD is a Formula which in still owned by the Mabee family. He ordered the car with electric sunroof......same as the one offered in the full-size Pontiac line.
A bunch more history on this car, more than I care to type.
A few years ago HPP did a feature on the car but was never published. Personality conflict between me and DeMauro..........His loss and unfortunately for the readers of HPP, a nice piece of history never to be read.
The original owner was a personal friend of Carroll Shelby and he bankrolled Shelby's first LeMans effort in the '50's.

I had a new LS6 exactly like the red one in the above picture. Cowl induction, 4 speed, red with black stripes. Wish I still had it, of course.

FYI.......the silver 73 SD formula thats been on ebay for sometime now, does not have the original block. It is a SD block but not original to the car. That's not mentioned anywhere in that auction!

You may already know this but here's some info.

It's easy to "clone" a 1969-72 Chevelle SS.

Here's some Chevelle info for those not in the know.

From 1964-68 ALL SS Chevelles could be determined by a 138 VIN. Just like the GTO is a 242.

From 1969 on ALL Chevelle SS's were a branch off of the Malibu VIN of 136. The ONE and ONLY way to truly tell and document an SS Chevelle after 1968 is by the build sheet. Chevy doesn't have a PHS service like Pontiac. There are tons of people out there who know how to clone a Chevelle SS but like I said there's only one true way to document it. You MUST have the build sheet.

Trading an SD T/A for an LS-6 Chevelle is a tough one. Both cars are awesome and have a great performance history. Honestly as much as I love Pontiac's I'd probably take a 4 speed LS-6 Chevelle over an SD T/A but I'd lose a lot of sleep deciding on it.

Good luck.

Larry,
Hasn't Bob (Pontiacs online) contacted you on doing a story on your car?
Or, even Diego?
It would be nice to read about.
