"It retains the crucial original sheet metal and original rear end with 4.10 gears."

Whats original about the rear? Housing? 4.10 not even A body Poncho gears....

Still a darn nice 455 GTO!

I like the optional stripe. Really makes it stand out in the crowd of Judges and GTO's.

Exactly.

Would of been 3.31's originally. In one photo, you can almost see the diff cover. Looks like it still has a 12 bolt housing underneath. But like the rest of the 'correct' drivetrain (guess not the original drivetrain then, eh?), seems to be beautifully rebuilt!

The guy just needs to get the specifics nailed down a bit more precise. Not that we're nit-picky or anything.

Certainly a beauty. Great memories here. Wish I woulda held onto my '70 455/4spd. Sigh...

I was the '2nd' owner of car for over 25 years. Car has original 12-bolt that was originaly a 3.31 gear. I upgraded car to a 4.10 in 1984 when I had it. Engine is/was a new GM'fitted' 4-bolt block with NOS SD-455 rods, crankshaft and TRW flat top 10.75 compression forged pistons. Heads are dated to car original '64' casting with a H.O. Racing Specialties 'Hi Lift' series Ram Air 111 camshaft with 1.65 rockers and custom made length swirl polished/tuliped valves from H.O. I built engine the way Pontiac should have for 1970. Car ran consistent 13.20-13.30 at 105 on street tires. I sold car and did restoration to current owners standards in 2011. Has only had 1,400 miles since 1984. It is an extremelly nice GTO. The description for auction was worderd by Mecum based on information given to them.

Looked at those pics this afternoon , first thing i thought was , looks just like the 455 car that Bob posted pics of in a D98 factory stripe thread several years ago.

Best looking D98 70 GTO i've ever seen.
Fits like a glove.
This car should make someone Very Happy

i had a bermuda blue 70 with D98
looked more like a mistake , no comparison.
