Smile BEEP BEEP

Could someone please show a detailed view of the horn assembly at the steering wheel.
The '63 manual is of not help and I'm clearly missing something.

I have power at the contact pin and the horn works, just can't get the horn bar to function with what is here.

As always Thanks for all the help!

sounds like you are missing the carbon contact button. Round cylinder with a spring loaded carbon tip. Sort of like a motor brush. Look in the Ames full size catalog in steering column components. Don't know why it is not in the Tempest catalog.

TF,
Thanks that helps alot.
She has a DELUXE and looking at the Dia, everything looks like it's here?
I'll have to pull it all apart and see what's incorrectly installed.

Cheers.

Without a doubt
Funny enough it was just a loose connection/contact.

Horn goes Beep Beep... Beep Beep

Single or dual horns? Thought mine was a single from the sound, but after finding them, found out one was unplugged!

Def. should have two. One sounds pretty timid. (Left and right have different tones.)

Duel horns are/were optional;
This NO FRILLs Tempest only has 1, it's an AM horn and is nice and loud.

Yeah, I can appreciate that especially if it's loud enough.

The single horn on my 4dr is not loud enough for me.

I'm just a horn... (oholic... o-phile !?) I guess I could trace it back to my earliest car recollections of my Dad's 46 Lincoln Continental. Now THAT was a horn! A couple of light taps were like music, A blast from that thing commanded ATTENTION! and Respect.

I have a collection of Lincoln Caddy Packard etc dual and triple trumpet sets that sooner or later find their way onto my Tempests.

Now more than ever, with all the distracted drivers on the road, I appreciate a horn as a safety tool. And as a fan of Vintage Cars I love the Audio atmospherics that a well tuned trumpet adds to my time machines.
