Ign. box analog or digital
My old Mallory box was acting up today, Shopping for a new box. So many choices. A few recommend the MSD grid. I only need a start retard, rev control for launch, high speed rev control and one stage retard.
Any recommendations? |

I am not a hardcore racer, but have used the MSD 6al-2 programmable box. Just lock out the distributor and then setup the timing curve, rev control etc on the laptop. Power grid looks, like, the same thing but with way more adjustability and features.
6al-2 programmable probably would cover what you need, but the power grid gives you lots of room to grow. |

I have had luck with the Mallory hyfire VII for close to 10 years. It started last summer cutting off, Have to kill power to the box before it will start again. I installed a fan blowing on it and it helped. Now it started acting up again in this 90 deg heat. I have it mounted inside on the firewall. They don't make it anymore.
I am look for something simple to adjust. Thinking of the old school MSD 7AL. |

my go-to is the MSD Digital 6, easily meets your requirements. As long as you use quality wiring and connectors, it will give you zero problems from my experience.
I saw one guy going on about how much of a POS his box was, well, he had scotchlocks and such ... thats a bad data point instantly.
