My 68 has the double hole as well. It is an early January, Pont Michigan car.
Doesn't mean they couldn't have been changed out by somebody at some point early in its life, but there was nothing that would have made me think that when I tore it apart. What was the point of the double holes again? I recall somebody saying they fit they 69 chrome bumpers, which would make no sense at all from the time of production & the hideaways not being on a chrome bumper car.

Single hole in mine .... but I'm not sure what year ... the bumper has no emblem holes so I assume it's a 69, but all the grills are 68, so it's probably a Frankenstein ... so no help.
I notice no part numbers on the endura/hide-away parts ... just all the assembly numbers and L and R . |

Interesting that you guys are finding single holes. Data, What plant is yours from even though its a 69 bumper? I would imagine these brackets are easy to bend in a collision. Heavy as heck in the frame section, but I could see them getting twisted easily if the front nose got popped in a few inches or so. My car is pretty much complete & I keep on learning things.

My car was built in late May '68 in Arlington. The brackets have 2 slots per side, but I'm 99% sure they're from an August '67 Kansas City car I used to own. I would bet mine came with single slot brackets from the factory. I find these little build nuances and variances so fascinating.

My bumper is not original to my car .... I personally destroyed the original bumper in an accident in 1976
So yes, my information is of no help whatsoever Strange that there are no part numbers .... how the heck did the factory keep track of them for replacement parts. Lots of parts in a hide-away system to just kind of eyeball them and hope they are right. |
