Car is still family owned. Was hoping the story of this Judge would remain "under wraps" for few more weeks. Oh well, looking forward to seeing it up close.

Why keep it under wraps for a few weeks Roger?

Somebody help me out here, why are we asking for information that may need to remain private on a public forum? I appreciate the story of this car but who owns it is none of my business, why grill somebody about it? The word Nunnya, comes to mind.

I'm "guessing" that maybe the car will change hands in near future.
aka eBay auction scenario - just guessing out loud from my gut.

We won't ever find a 71 Judge built later than this one.
It's a pure abnormality in the full sense.

Probably didn't roll off the end of the line until Late April - with its May dealer invoice.

04A is when the build order was rubber stamped at Fisher Body side.
Then it had to be staged/appointment for the hand sprayed off-line special paint operation.
Have some other low-production colors and special order colors on file with as much as 2-4 weeks between body tag date and invoice date.

Why does it look like the Pink stripes to me???
personally think it would look better with the pinky-blues installed ,
but wouldn't change it on this one.

What I can't figure out is why the hell does everybody care that it's the last one built what difference does it make? It's very cool that it's a special paint orbit orange car but the fact is the last one I love GTO judges and have a few cars myself but I could give a rat's ass about it being the last one...doesn't make it worth any more in my book What if the cars are piece of crap in person are we supposed to give the fact that the car was Left 4 Dead and looks like nobody really cared about it until now? You guys need to really really wrap your head around something more important than this and all honesty.
Sounds to me like we're building all this hype so the new owner can cash in when his family's car at some big auction either way I really don't care but it has been a cool thread to follow

Thats just one of the layers of interest - not much value with it.
But the only layer that anybody wants to contradict - so far.
And there have been several in past years claim it - but this one blows them out of the picture.
So thats good , i like that part.
Kiss my foot if you dont like it ? lol

All the rest are pretty cut-and-dry
and those hold all the value anyhow.
Judge
OrbitO - only 1 known
Alternate Stripes
1 Owner
Unrestored
Factory paint
etc ...

I hope they do cash in HEAVY
but probably wont be all that heavy in the end.

No harm intended Don , btw
i know i'm crazy sometimes.

But i do like the part about it being so late.
I don't even like OrbitO or the Stripes or the Interior ... as far as those things go.

I can relate to the old man putting it away and keeping it hidden.
And do hope they cash out in a Big Way - in his honor .

Guys - the owner is part of the original purchaser's family - so same family, never outside family. Original purchaser passed away not long ago, his wife remains with us.

This car would have been quietly presented via a magazine in the near future (still will) as it's coming out party. However, the owner got ahead of himself in posting information on "the internet", which makes it searchable and then everyone wants to know: Is it real? Why not seen before? Who owns it? Is it for sale? Is it documented? Can it be...? " I get it.

Just as some attach value to the first of a breed, so do some to the last of the breed. This is what we have here. Value it more or not, someone will; hence, this car (should it ever change hands in the foreseeable future), will likely carry a higher price tag than an car of equivalent condition because of the STORY. It's all documented. It's virtually all original. It's been in the hands of one family since ordered/delivered. It's real. It's Orbit Orange with special stripes. It's cool.

The car is NOT currently for sale and is not assumed to be for sale in the foreseeable future.

People should see it soon enough - less than 30 days at the Land of Lakes Muscle Car Classic 32 in Inver Grove Heights, MN (twin cities).

I think you summed up your position perfectly here. Of course not everyone see's things that way.

For example, the 455 currently in my 67 GTO was one I bought simply because of its casting date. (It happened to be cast the same day I was born) As a result, this particular 455 will always hold more importance to me than any of my other 455's, simply because of its casting date. Obviously it is 100% functionally identical to thousands of other 455's, but that date makes it special to me.

I believe this will be the reason someone will value this car. Being the last of a generation holds value. Heretofore, no one knew this car held that distinction. As a result, it has special intrinsic value. To someone...

And yes, this 71 is super cool!

Personally, my title would be "Orbit Orange 71 Judge built in Late April"

Can't wait to see more pix!

Man it’s great to see some life back in the Judge section! Lovin’ all this banter and speculation and excitement. Anytime Ram4king and BVZ start pontificating it is Pure Pontiac Excitement! Heck, even Forest came out of the woodwork!

I like GTO's;
I am not a GTO guy, but I like them alot;
I feel that sometimes Judges get more limelight than they warrant;
To me this is super-neat, because according to our knowledge of options ect, the car shouldn't have been built.

It my opinion, that everything else equal, the documentation probing this was built after the option was cancelled, will, or should warrant a premium.

But it is still a Judge - and that already warrants a premium over an already desireable car - The GTO.

Since it's a hot topic, and has gone to value...

What's the opinion of value for this 71 Judge?

Has the dreaded auto that seems to be a 25% deduct. Does Special paint trump that when it's OO?

The Last make it premium?

Unrestored survivor equal a concourse level 71 Judge?

The last Judge

The last Super Duty

The last Hemi

Words that set a single car apart from all of the others built alike. Like I told you yesterday Don, not everyone will add a significance to that but like others, I would.

Nice find guys, hope the car, like Gramps vert, gets the respect it deserves.

/\ IIRC in a recent issue of HMM a 1972 440 Charger(?) was covered;
A car which even Dodge denied as being built...

the story went something like this:
apparently the order was placed early enough that it was built as a carry over from 1971 model year options;
but right around the time it was built the 440 didn't pass emissions, so as a matter of liability, Dodge denied it ever being built.
seriously neat story/read...

I am actually surprised how little press the defunct 1970 SD/RAIV for the Firebird gets;
I really believe that the intended 1970 Firebird 'LS1' which eventually led to the GTO's 'L67' getting installed in Firebirds was why production numbers of RAIV-T/A's are so low - and why no RAIV-Formulas exist...
