LOL - that was my first thought, too.

Thanks for posting, Gary. That will probably be me some day.

MC I was also expecting a Ferris Bueler ending. Wish my dad would have smoked the tires in something, just wasn't into that stuff. He always tells me my car is a money pit & just going to get me in trouble. LOL

I'm speechless.

(lol)

On the other end of the spectrum: no reason to post this pic except I thought it was a cool odometer reading.

Took my son Joseph to lunch today for his birthday. I almost let him drive but I enjoy this car so much I decided I'd drive instead.

You'll also note the "speed alarm" needle setting. I like to know if I happen to bump up over 120 mph during my travels.

Thank you; appreciate the encouragement.

I suppose it's time for a quick update:

a) My GM seniority date is tomorrow - June 11, 1979 was my start date...

b) ...so I'll be celebrating by attending the POCI Widetrackers Chapter "Dustoff" tomorrow at the 4H Fairground. Forecast is for high temps and thunderstorms so hopefully that won't put too much of a damper on our enthusiasm.

c) In other news - I was invited to take the Grand Prix to the "Eyes on Design" concours event on Father's Day (thank you, Jeff Denison). "Eyes" is an invitation only show that benefits the Detroit Ophthalmology Association and is held at the Edsel Ford Estate in St Clair Shores. The theme for this display will be "Powered by Design"; I'll try and get a stack of good photos.

By way of update -

The Dustoff was a smashing success. The thunderstorms that were forecast all week never materialized and we had a picture perfect day.

Eyes on Design was beautiful, as always. Kinda fun hanging at the Edsel Ford Estate and taking in the sights.

No great photos of either event, though. I'm struggling a bit with my digital camera.

The big news I suppose is that we were able to execute a photo shoot with the GTO. This took place last Sunday evening at a small local airstrip with photographer Al Rogers.

The idea is for future publication in one of the enthusiast mags in the November/December timeframe. I have already provided the accompanying text (1000 words, first person).

The print version is scheduled for this month's Muscle Car Review, hitting news stands on December 9th.

Looks like photobucket finally caught up with me;

I have gone back through the thread and modified all the links so that the photos now appear again (...usually).

If you happen to see a black box try refreshing your view and normally that will bring the picture back.

Since I can't seem to add this to my photo album I'm going to stick it here for future reference.

It's hard to say from a black & white photo but this could be our '63 sitting behind Royal.

Some defining features:

Silver on the front header panels, surrounding the grilles
Silver paint around the body side trim
Body colored wheels
Standard (non remote) mirror
Royal sticker on the sail panel

Man! Does this thing ride good with 200 lbs of weight in the trunk!!

(lol)

Loving our "Indian Autumn": 50 degrees here, with blue skies and dry roads. I've been driving the wheels off the GP this fall and will continue to do so for as long as I can.

Whew, just read through the whole thread. As a history buff I can't truly explain how fun it is for me to talk to people with stories like this. Being 25, I wasn't able to take in all of the glory years with my own senses, but through music, old remnants, and my Pontiac it seems somewhat closer to me.

Thanks so much for writing this down, your dad was quite wise to do it as well. That GP is a looker btw!

Hey Keith, do you know a Michelle Peters? Worked at the Pontiac plant. Seems really nice and shades some stories from when she worked there.

I do not; I'll keep my eyes open at the various events around here.

Thanks,

Another thread reminded me that I took some pictures during my summer vacation that I never got around to posting -

This is from Ludington, Michigan and is the original location of Stevenson Motor Sales, which is the agency my Grand Prix was sold through.

It is a small swap meet/flea market now.
