Heres a pic of me (the tall one) checking out my new GTO as its delivered off the transporter.....lol, don't I wish.
These are a sweet car - they're a lot nicer in the flesh than the pics I've seen around.

And this pic shows both the GTO and the Left Hand Drive Chevy Lumina for the Middle-East markets (LHD Holden Commodore S).

Only the "Holden Sanctioned" person was allowed to drive the car...but it took a couple of laps around the display area. With all the B/S from Pontiac engineers on how they "tuned" the exhaust to sound more "GTO"....it sounds like any other other HSV...Clubsport etc. Can anyone say "advertising hype?"
Its a nice car...but if you didn't look at the badges, you'd think you were driving a CV8 or a HSV GTO maybe...internally, aside from sitting on the wrong side of the car (you guys in the states aught to fix that...lol) theres very little to see thats different from the Holden.
All of which gets a thumbs up from me, as I reckon the Holden Monaro is a pretty classy ride.

its not hype it actually has a unique exhaust compared to any other holden, did the driver give it a decent rev ? , its not like its got open headers or anything & it still needs to meet govt noise regs.

I'm not saying the exhaust wasn't reworked by Pontiac....it just doesn't sound any different from the Holden...at least not without having one side by side to listen to. Sounded fine...like a warm factory engine should sound....I see some aftermarket exhausts doing well as an accessory, get the sound pumping!
The CV8 wheels can be ordered over the counter from Holden, just bring your money with you, lol....the wheels on the GTO appear to be the same ones being used on current Commodore SS.

Well...on Thursday I drove the '04 GTO...the one on the cover of Motor Trend. Can we all say ssswwweeeeettt! I took it down my normal test road thru some Sss and down a straight. The car felt so good I went back in the other direction at about 90 MPH and the car felt incredibly attached to the road. I have driven this same road in a very well set up '99 T/A and the GTO out performs the T/A without question.

The feel is extremely solid and the acceleration is quick. I was on the rev limiter quicker than all get out!

This is a "pilot" car that has been in the hands of many and to that the clutch is not in the best shape. With the t/c off I was able to easily smoke the hides while launching the car at about 1500 RPM.

Like I said, the car RPMs quick so you better be ready with your right hand to move the gears!

I want one!

hehehehe....see, told you guys....they go hard.
One of the market requirements here (Australia) is that a car has to handle well....even base spec cars handle well...or they don't sell.
When Ford started selling Explorers here, the whole suspension had to be re-worked as they got such a bad rep from the motoring press on test.
HSV has been building fast, very good handling cars for 25 years...they know their stuff.
