I could be 100% wrong here but is that not the side that the galley plug sits itside the block not on the outside?? You may be missing a softplug to cover the hole not the galley plug.Believe me if you lost the galley plug your oil pressure would say zip!!

You`re ok. That hole is there to oil the distributor gear. All blocks are open like that.

There is a plug in the front behind the timing chain, and if you look down the dist. hole, you might be able to see the screw in gallery plug for that side. You will have to get to it by removing a 15/16 freeze plug, next to the rear cam plug on the right side. Then you will see the rear gallery plug.

From the back of the block with trans. removed there is a plug just right of dist. take this plug out and you will see a small freeze out plug behind it this is the oil galley plug that you are looking for it is not flush with the back of the block-----BOB

Rusty,PunchT37 is correct, that is a weep-hole for drain-back to the dist.gear.It is not a pressurized hole. All blocks do have them.If you have another block,or engine with valley tray off you will see it is same way.Pressurized oil travels for valvetrain from rear driverside to front and over and backdown pass.side to rear. These are the plugs the guys are speaking of.There are 4 of these,2 behind timing chain, and 2 at rear of block. The last one in line(pass.side rear)is the blind plug behind soft plug.Hope this helps you,Kenny

If you want to see the rear galley plug, notice the lifter feed channel down the passenger side of the engine. Then look inside the distributor hole down at a point that will line up with the lifter feed galley. It's about 2" down and to the right where you are now looking.
